Bhubaneswar(SAMRUDHA ODISHA)Today, the Minister of State (Ind. Charge), Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Shri Sampad Chandra Swain visited industrial estate in Khurda. The Minister was accompanied by Hon’ble MLA, Khurda, Principal Secretary to Government, Industries Department, Managing Director (MD), IDCO, other IDCO officials and Senior officers of District Administration. MD, IDCO apprised the Minister regarding various industrial parks in Khurda District along with access to common infrastructure for the units in the industrial parks. During his visit, the Minister interacted with various units inside the Industrial Park such as SMS Group, Indo NISSIN, and Coca Cola group. He advised the industries to ensure local employment and increase uptake of skilled workforce from ITIs and Polytechnic institutions in the Khurda District. Further, Hon’ble Minister conducted a detailed review meeting in the Collectorate Office at Khurda. Shri Prashant Kumar Jagdev, Hon’ble MLA, Khurda, Shri Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Hon’ble MLA, Begunia, Shri Naba Kishore Mallik, Hon’ble MLA, Jayadev along with senior officers of the Industries Department, IDCO and District Administration were present. In the review, Principal Secretary, Industries apprised about upcoming industries in the Khurda District and informed Hon’ble Minister that there is a growing demand for industrial development in and around the district. Looking into the burgeoning demand, IDCO is working for development of new industrial parks in the vicinity i.e in Kalibeti, Mundamba, Haldiapada, Begunia etc. He also briefed that 15 units have been allotted in Industrial Park at Mundamba, specific for food processing industries, and Varun Beverages has already started its operation. Similarly, industrial park at Kalibeti is specific for textile and garment sector and EPIC has initiated its construction for garment manufacturing unit. MD, IDCO explained details of the land in various tehsils such as Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Jatani, Begunia, Bolagarh, Tangi etc. and apprised details of industries allotted land in the industrial areas. Hon’ble MLAs of the respective constituencies appreciated the efforts taken by the Govt for infrastructure development and assured providing all local support and facilitation for industrial investment in Khurda region. They also advised to scrutinize the land allotment and ensure effective utilization. The Minister has expressed his satisfaction on the infrastructure and progress over various upcoming industrial parks. He presented that Khurda has immense potential for industrial investment, and this can become one of the industrial hubs of the country. The Minister informed that 15 new land patches have been identified with an expected investment of around 6,400 Cr with an employment opportunity of around 13,000. He directed IDCO officials and local administrations to address the issues pertaining to parking, law & order, power dependency, water logging etc at the earliest. He cited that both food processing and textile are promising sectors for economic development and employment generation to the local youth. The Minister reiterated that the current Government would provide support for industries that would lead to rapid economic and social development and Odisha shall emerge as one of the industry hubs of India.
