Cuttack(Samrudha Odisha)The Thinkers’ Club of the Twin City, organized its 78th webinar over the ‘Zoom Platform’ on 23rd July 2023. Eminent Literati Professor Baishnab Charan Samal, presided over the meet. Barada Prasanna Das, the President of the Club coordinated the different aspects of the meet.The first and second meet of the ‘Utkal Sammilani’was held at the Idga ground near the shelter square, Cuttack. This meeting was carried in the year 1903 and 1904 respectively. The meetings were attended by more than 3000 people. The attendees included all the then kings of Odisha, Leaders of different forums, Intellectuals and common people. In this historic great meeting, there was discussion on the future of Odiya Community, it’s language and culture. There was special discussion on future of the would be new state of Odisha. This meeting was the stepping stone for making Odisha a separate state based on a language. The result is seen on 1st April 1936; Odisha as a separate province. This is the first state in the country to be a province based on language.The august participant of the meet unanimously wanted that this Idga Ground be declared as the “Matru Puja Mandap” by the Government and due respect is given to this historic memorial place and the selfless services of Kulabrudha Madhusudhan and his allies. The aged Professor Samal said, this will be a right tribute to the unity and pride of the Odiyas in the million city. Professor Samal expressed his unhappiness over the negligence of the administration in neglecting this holy land. He advised the President of the Club, to immediately send representations to the department of Culture, Chief Minister of Odisha ,the Secretaries of the 5T and other concerned departments.Dr Bayamanu Charchi, joined the meet as chief speaker. He spoke elaborately about the inception of the “Utkal Sammilani”, creation of Separate state of Odisha, the problems of the people of Odisha in the isolated places and on the conspiracy of the neighboring states to grab some portions of the state. He also highlighted on the alluring offers of the other states, so that the people will vote against Odisha.Jagannath Mohanty, the organizer of the “Madhu Surakhya Mancha” said, negligence in this respect can’t be tolerated and immediate steps need to be taken. Barada Prasanna Das, the President of the Club assured to the participants that, immediate steps will be taken to send memorandum and related steps.Dr Rajat Satapathy, Professor Umasankar Misra, Monica Das, Bishop D.B.Hrudaya, Engr Siris Sahoo, Natyacharya Chitaranjan Satapathy, Advocate Soumyajit Pani, Binode Mohanty, Sudhakar Patri, hadparticipated in the discussion and advised to take immediate steps for bringing the facts to the eyes of the Government and to implement required steps.Other participants were:- Additional secretary Madhusudan Das, OAS, Advocate Kasturi, Dr Bayamanu Charchi, researcher on History of Odisha, Dr Dipayan Pattanaik, Jayakrishna Pradhan, Lopa Samal, ABEO Hinjlikatu, Rudra Madhab Baric, Sangita Satapathy, Santosh Swain, Suchana Padhi and Hemanta Kumar Dandasena. Besides these dignitaries many have joined in the U.Tube. Dr Dipayan Pattanaik offered the vote of thanks and the meeting was concluded.
